On October 2, the XV International Investment Forum Sochi-2016 completed its work. The Forum in Sochi is a traditional platform for discussing the development of the world economy and its current trends, presentation of Russia's investment and economic potential, interaction and strengthening of relations between foreign and Russian business representatives, political circles, expert and media communities.
The forum was held with the participation of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation D.A. Medvedev.
In the framework of the Sochi-2016 Forum, the Director of MOST Marketing, Viktor Larionov, has acted as an expert at the panel session "Technology Transfer as a Tool to Increase the Investment Attractiveness of Business." In the course of the discussions, the participants considered and discussed the issues: stimulating the decision making process of private enterprises to increase their technological competitiveness; assistance to enterprises for technological advancement of foreign competitors; adaptation of the mechanisms of technological transfer to Russian realities and requests.
The practice of import substitution and localization of production shows that in certain sectors, Russian products are able to compete with world analogues. However, Russian enterprises are introducing cutting-edge technologies slowly, as a result of which their effectiveness (to a greater extent, for medium and small businesses) lags seriously behind their foreign competitors. Transfer of technology through foreign direct investment is limited by many factors, including country risk that foreign investors today associated with Russia.
